What was the status of blacks under apartheid system in south Africa

The blacks were reduced to absolute poverty , they were not given importance and were discriminated under the apartheid system which was adopted by the whites in South Africa. They were not allowed to use public places and we're not allowed to enter the churches where the whites worshiped.They were treated as inferior though they were in majority.
