Answer:
Explanation:
Polo originated from Central Asia which is evident from the reference we get from Persia (Iran) . They played the game which was known as chaugan ( mallet). In China it was called maqiu & in Japan as dakyu.
During the rule of Qutubuddin Aibak who was the founder of the slave dynasty , polo was played extensively. But the game gained popularity during Babar's reign (Mughal era). Akbar, was the greatest among the Mughals who played this game very well.
Akbar set rules for the sport and even introduced special uniform for the game . He was a great lover of this sport which is evident from his vast polo stables which is still visible in Agra. The sport reached the pinnacle during the Mughal rule and soon became the national sport of India by the end of 16th century.
The charm of the game got diminished with the decline of Mughal rule.
Hope this helps.
