What was the temptation and how did franz resist to it

For Franz the bright day, the chirping of the birds and the drill performed by the Prussian soldiers. Instead, to attend the class he wanted to spend time outside and enjoy the beauty of the day. He didn't like M.Hamel who always asked him questions whose answer he didn't know. He felt running from the school in place of attending French lessons.

Since Franz had started late for school, he was in great dread of being scolded. Moreover, the bright and warm weather, the chirping of the birds and the drilling of Prussian soldiers tempted Franz to run away and spend the day out of doors. However, his inner strength helped him to resist the temptation.
