1)      Charles I was defeated and executed in 1649 and England became republic
.This experiment of republican government did not last long and eventually in 1688,Willam Orange    and his wife Mary(grand daughter of Charles I) were invited by the parliament to occupy the throne of England.A new arrangement was worked out by which ministers were responsible to the parliament. And the powers of the king were restricted.thus parliament supremacy was established and paving way for democracy. This transformation therefore is known as glorious or bloodless revolution

bloodless revolution is also called as glorious revolution. it is called so because the supreme power is transferred to parliament without shedding a drop of blood or firing a shot.
