Answer:
I hope it rains at least today,” Velu thought, as he opened his eyes. Velu was a farmer.
The sun was beginning to rise, glowing crimson like fire. Velu scanned the sky. There was not a cloud.
“It doesn’t look encouraging,” he muttered to himself and got up.
Rain or no rain, a farmer wakes up early. Velu worked hard. His piece of land never failed him. Season after season he cultivated it, harvesting jowar one season and dal the next. Throughout the year he worked, never thinking of rest or taking a holiday. For nearly six years it had been so, ever since he had got his own piece of land.

Answer:
Farmers perform pooja at Lord Bhetala temple before beginning farming for kharif season
It was a festive mood in the mandal headquarters town on Wednesday. Scores of farmers gathered in the open field adjacent to Lord Bhetala temple on the outskirts of the village. They decorated their bulls and tied them to the tiller, getting ready to begin farming.
The farmers are the happiest lot for the first time in three years, as rains have come on time and they have also started procuring seeds for the same.
“Oh! Lord Varuna, bless us with timely and sufficient rain. Goddess Mother Earth, please bless us with sufficient food grains. Let all the farmers be happy with the yield and let the village be happy too,” the priest said, while performing a pooja. The farmers prayed before breaking the coconut and tilling the land, welcoming the kharif season. They offered food grains, water, navadhanyalu (nine varieties of grains), and even prepared food.
