In France, the tithes – called "la dîme" – were a land tax. Originally a voluntary tax, the "dîme" became mandatory in 1585. Thithes and taille are the names of the tax that were collected and levied on noble and non-nobel lands

These were collected during the period of french revolution

Thithes is the 1/10th part of the agricultural production paid as a compulsory tax to the government.

While taille is the tax that was directly paid on the land basis.
