Answer:
Tricki was a very nice pet but very greedy too. If food is offered to him, he can't able to refuse it. So, he was very fat.
Tricki’s problem was the pampering attitude of Mrs. Pumphrey, his owner. In her affection and love for her pet, she gave her sweet food, Horlicks, cream cakes, chocolates, etc. as many times as the dog demanded. This sweet and fatty food made Tricki enormously fat.
James Herriot suggested her not to give the dog such type of food; and also suggested her to make Tricki do exercise. But Mrs. Pumphrey did not follow the narrator’s advice.
Tricki ould not be treated at home because Mrs. Pumphrey did not stop pampering him. She would allow him all type of food which was dangerous for his health.
