In the earlier period of development of chemistry,Berzelius a Swedish chemist  proposed that the synthesis of organic compounds within plants and animals required some mysterious force.This force was called the vital force and the theory was referred as vital force theory.

Then after the synthesis of Urea from ammonium cyanide gave a death blow to the vital force theory and clearly explained that no mysterious force was required for the formation of organic compound in the lab.
