Answer:

  • A weed is a plant considered undesirable in a particular situation, "a plant in the wrong place". Examples commonly are plants unwanted in human-controlled settings, such as farm fields, gardens, lawns, and parks. ... In the same way, volunteer crops (plants) are regarded as weeds in a subsequent crop.
  • Process of controlling the weed is called weeding. Weeding is done manually by using khurpi and by using mechanical machines. Weeds are also controlled by using some chemical substances like 2, 4-D. These chemicals are called weedicides and are used to kill and destroy the weeds.

Explanation:

Weeds are unwanted and uncultivated plants that grow with crops and compete with crops for nutrients and can also cause crop toxification. Weeding is removal of weeds and is mostly done before flowering begins in crop plants. It is done using trowel, harrow or weedicides. Trowel is used in manual removal of weeds. Ploughing/tilling of soil, before seed sowing, using plough or cultivar followed by breaking the left over soil crumps using leveller also removes the weeds. Similarly, use of weedicides, the chemicals that control the growth of weeds, is also practised.
