What weight of HCl is required for complete decomposition of 0.5 mole of CaCO3?

1mol CaCO3 reacts with 2mol HCl

You react 0.5 mol CaCO3 . This will require 1 mol HCl .

Molar mass HCl = 36.5g/mol

You require 36.5g HCl

If solution is 25% HCl by mass

You require: Mass of solution = 100/25*36.5 = 146g HCl required.
