The conflict in the year 1927, led to the division of All India Muslim League into two groups. The reason being that Jinnah and his supporters were in support of the joint electorates system whereas Shafi and his followers greatly opposed this thinking of joint electorates.

Jinnah joined the All India Muslim League in the year 1913, and after its partition, he became the leader of the part which remained as the All India Muslim League whereas Shafi became the leader of Shafi league.

Jinnah was referred to as the great leader of the party and this named 'Qaid-e-Azam'.
