Although the crusades failed to capture jerusalem, they had several major impacts on western Europe.They increased the authority of king:sometimes nobles died in battle without leaving an heir in which case the king got their land.kings passed taxes to pay for the crusades.☺

The Crusades provided an impetus to trade and commerce and increased trade between eastern and western countries. This contributed to the wealth and prosperity of the people in many European countries. In place of land money became the new measure of wealth. Europeans came into contact with the eastern civilizations.Such contacts kindled their interest in their own Greek and Roman pasts.Artists and scholars began to rediscover and revive their past in art ,architecture, literature and philosophy.
