The term Hindustan has been first used by the Persians in 13th century. It had been changed many times for example,
• In Tretayug India was called as the Aryavarta or Raghukul.
• In Dwaparyug, it was called as the Bharatvarsh.
• Arab traders and Dutch called it Indusland which meant 'the land where the river indus flows'.
• Then it was called as Hindustan which is made up of two words namely Hindu and Sthan. Which meant the Land of Hindus.
• Then like earlier it began to be called as Bharat.
• And presently our country is called as India.
