Subhas Chandra Bose's father had asked him to write the Civil ServicesExamination. But Bose was eager to work as a freedom fighter for India. He wanted to join the Freedom movement. On knowing this, his fathercriticized him, that he was avoiding the exam as he was afraid of passing the exam.
