The Weimar Democratic Republic was not well received by the people largely because of the terms it was forced to accept in the Treaty of Versailles after Germany's defeat in WWI. Politically too the Weimar Republic was fragile. It's constitution had some inherent defects which made it unstable and vulnerable to dictatorship.
