Gandhi Irwin Pact was signed due to brutal repression of the British on the satyagrahis . Due to wide spread violence, Gandhiji called off the Civil Disobedience Movement and signed a pact with Lord Irwin. The following were the agreements made:-
a) Gandhi agreed to take part in the second round table conference
b) The government agreed to release all political prisoners imprisoned during the movement .
