The other important objectives of the NAM are: To eliminate all those causes which could lead to war. To protect the nascent freedom of the new-born independent countries of Asia and Africa from colonial domination. To oppose colonialism, imperialism and racial discrimination.

Non - aligned movement is the policy of a sovereign state according to which it does not align itself with any of the power blocs and at the same time actively participates in international cooperation , harmony etc.
The objectives of NAM are as follows :
- To eliminate all causes which could directly or indirectly lead to war .
- To build NIEO ( New International Economic Order .
- To protect human rights.
- To promote scientific culture .
- To preserver culture and traditions.
- To strengthen world peace.
- To strengthen U.N .
- To discourage rearmament.
NAM had these features :
- It was opposed to any military alliance .
- It opposed racialism .
- It meant active participation rather passiveness.
- It promoted international peace .
