The conflict between the Bengal nawabs and the East India Company started when the Nawabs refused to grant the Company concessions and demanded large tributes for the Company,s right to trade. The Nawabs also denied the Company any right to mint coins, and stopped it from extending its fortifications.

The conflict between the Bengal Nawabs and the East India company intensified in the early 18th century.The nawabs of Bengal like sirajuddaulah,Mushid Quli Khan and Alvardi Khan were very strong and denied to collect revenue.The Company on its part,said that the unjust demand of local officials were ruining their trade. To expand their trade they had to rebuild their forts.
