The conflict between the Bengal Nawab and the East India Company was in matters of their right to trade in Bengal.

The Nawab refused the to grant the Company concessions and also, demanded large tributes for the Company's right to trade. The Nawabs accused the Company of depriving large amount of revenue from the Bengal govt , and undermining their authority.

The Company felt that Nawab's demand were unfair and wanted to enlarge their fortifications.
