Causes of Bastar Rebellion :-

1) In 1905, the colonial government reserved two-thirds of forest and stopped shifting cultivation, hunting and gathering of forest goods.
2) Colonial government demanded free labour from the local people for cutting and transporting trees.
3) People from different villages were displaced without any compensation.
4) Increase in land rents worried the villagers.
5) Two great famines in 1899-1900 and in 1907-1908 brought more despair and suffering to the villagers.

Due to these reasons, the villagers of Bastar ose in a revolution against the colonial government.
