The main features of the chola Government can be started as under :

1. Thought the chola kings has vast powers, yet they used consult their ministers and even Purohita.

2. There was decentralisation from center into mandalmas, mandalmans into valanadus. The administration was divided into numerous departments. The village admissions was carried on by village authorities.

3. The chola kingdom reserve revenue from :

(i) land

(ii) Trade

A part of revenue collection was kept for king's expenditure .

4. The chola Kings pant money on on promotion of the art, lecturer and spread education.

5. The chola kings took active interest in temple-building, architecture, sculpture, painting and music.

Mahmud of Ghazni had started hisinvasions in India during the period when the Rajput power had declined. The two main reasons that led to theconquest of India by Mahmud Ghazni was firstly, to accumulate the vast amount of wealth that existed in India, and secondly, to spread Islam.
