The Salt Satyagraha , which took place during the Indian War of Independence under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi , was organized in protest of the then British government's tax on essential commodities like salt. There was a Satyagraha in 1930. This is also called Dandi Satyagraha.

On February 14, 1930, the Indian National Congress, under the leadership of Gandhiji, ordered the people to break the civil law. The Salt Satyagraha was part of this movement.
