What were the changes brought by Lord Warren Hastings in India during Easy India Company's rule ?

Lord Warren Hastings became the Governor of Bengal in the year 1772.

Administrative reforms by Hastings:

● Shifting treasury from Murshidabad to Calcutta

● Removal of Deputy subedars and appointment of English collectors

● reduction in pension of Nawab of Bengal. The pension of Nawab of Bengal was reduced from thirty- two lacs to sixteen lacs.

Judicial reforms by Hastings:

● Establishment of civil and criminal courts

● Abolition of judicial functions of zamindars

● Sadar Diwani adalats and Sadar Nizamat adalats were established

● Judicial preceedings started to be written down

● Appointing Indian judges in Criminal Courts

● Administration system was made better as the judicial proceedings and judgements were made under Quran from Muslims and under Shastras for Hindus.

Revenue reforms of Hastings :

● establishing board of revenue

● setting up five year land revenue settlement

● appointment of British land revenue officers.
