Hard body surface is the characteristics of life forms that had been fossilized.

Explanation:

  • Fossils can be divided into newer and older forms. The older forms were usually simple body structure.
  • The simple body structure later on changed into more complex forms due to evolution. Now Fossils are formed due to organic changes that occur under the soil.
  • Hence there must be a hard surface in their body otherwise the Fossils will get perished. This hard surface is usually formed by the bony endoskeleton of the animals.
  • Also they organisms must contain ample amount of nutrients for the scavengers and the decomposer to decompose it.
