The medieval Indian tribes relied on the forest and open grasslands, for their livelihood.

The produce from forests provided them food, fuel as well as shelter. Excess of what they collected from the forest were traded of, mostly by way of barter system. They also reared animals, which provided them milk, eggs and meat. These cattle and sheep grazed on the open grasslands.

The medieval period was isolated into 2 periods: the early medieval and the late medieval period.

The early medieval period endured from the eighth century till the thirteenth century.

Archeological sources incorporate landmarks, sanctuaries, engravings, coins and weapons.

The late medieval period kept going from the thirteenth century till the eighteenth century.

It closes with the beginning of the Mughal realm.
