Louisa mebbin knew that Mrs packletide had killed wrong animal.... So she blackmailed packletide that if she wanted to keep her secret hidden than she has to give her financial support for buying cottage...

Packletide had no option as she did not wanted people especially loona bimberton about her mistake of killing wrong animal.....
