they give small contribution to art and architecture compare to Mughal architecture . The one of the best example is qutub minar. It is 72.5 high, 13.5 meter is the circumference of bottom and 2.5 meter is the circumference of top of the qutub minar.

Contributions of Delhi Sultans to Art and Architecture

  • The Delhi Sultanates were the pioneers of Indo-Islamic art and architectural forms.
  • They were very advanced, aesthetic and indigenous in art and architecture.
  • They were iconoclastic pillagers and prohibited anthromorphic art forms. Instead they introduced their own typical architectural styles and features like; domes, trabeates, arcurates, arches, motifs, drum, finial, chattri, spandrel, calligraphy-styled walls, dado etc.
  • They also contributed a lot to Indian fine arts through Indo-Persian style paintings, calligraphy, geometrically-shaped art forms, inscriptional artworks, etc.

Examples of Sultanate architecture :

  1. Qutb Minar
  2. Lodhi Garden
  3. Alai Minar
  4. Siri Fort
  5. Mahal Hazar Satun
  6. Palace of Thousand Pillars
  7. Alai Darwaza
  8. Tughlaqabad
