He used the following two properties:

\pink\longrightarrow Similarity of chemical properties (which he selected as the important factor in arranging elements). i.e. the element with similar chemical properties should be in the same group

\pink\longrightarrowMendeleev used the relationship between the atomic masses and their physical and chemical properties and give the law that the properties of elements are the periodic functions of their atomic masses.
