1. Sri lankan tamils asked to recognise Tamil as an official language.

2.They denanded equal opportunities in govt jobs and education.

3.By 1980s, they demanded an independent Tamil Eelam in northern and eastern parts of Sri lanka.

They launched struggles for the fulfilment of their above demands.

They established several political organisations and demanded regional autonomy.

They started some sort of a civil war when their legitimate demands were denied by the Lankan government.
