Well, the Nazis were fascists, but not all fascists are Nazis. The Nazis were an exceptionally brutal subcategory, and not all fascists were that genocidal or even racist at all. Fascism has a bad rap because a), it opposes Western ideals of democracy, and b) the Nazis were fascists and that’s all anyone thinks about when they hear the word fascist.
Fascism could have been an effective form of government, at least for a time, like communism. But thanks to the Nazis and the fact that they lost, fascism was discredited and pushed into the dark recesses of the history books.
