Clergy and Nobility was highly privileged class and exempted from paying taxes.
It was third estate which include Merchants, Artisans , Craftworkers etc... who have to pay taxes. Main taxes were.
▪ Tithes - A type of land taxes imposed on Peasants by Church.
▪ Tailles - Tax imposed on items for daily consumption like salt, tobbaco etc...
