Answer :
In the book 'The Story Of My Life,' Helen Keller faces numerous difficulties during her term at Radcliff College. She was excited to study with normal girls who could see and hear. She considered her professors as the embodiment of wisdom and felt that the college campus was filled with the spirit of great and wise men. However, she soon discovered that college was not the romantic place that she had imagined it to be.
Helen Keller realized many disadvantages of attending college as follows :
1. She felt that there was always a lack of time with too much to do. She felt burdened with the coursework and no longer had the time to reflect.
2. She felt that the coursework was taught at a very fast pace. She could not keep pace with the lecturer and describes her experience using the line 'The words rush through my hand like hounds in pursuit of a hare which they often miss.'
3. She felt quite alone in the lecture hall and felt that the professor was as remote and distant as if he was speaking through a telephone.
4. Braille version of most of the prescribed books was not available.
5. She did not receive the individual and personalized attention that she was used to.
These difficulties made her feel lost, dejected and completely helpless. However, she worked with enthusiasm, determination and perseverance and was eventually successful in overcoming these obstacles.
