Hi friend...

The aftermath of the October Revolution was the beginning of the  Russian Civil War, which lasted from 1917-1922, with the Bolshevik Red Army triumphing over the White Army. Once securely in power, Lenin enacted decrees that laid the groundwork for Russia becoming the world's first Communist country. The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was created in December of 1922. All Russian banks were nationalized and private accounts were confiscated, Church property was seized, all foreign debt was abandoned, and control of factories was given to the government, as well as, all privately held lands. The lasting effects of the October Revolution and the Russian Revolution was the beginning of Russia as a Communist country. This later led to Russia becoming a world super power and creating an era of tension between the Unites States and the Soviet Union, known as the Cold War, that began after the end of World War II and ended in 1991 when the Soviet Union fell apart.

                                                       OR

In the October Revolution (November on the Gregorian calendar), the Bolshevik party, led by Vladimir Lenin, and the workers' Soviets, overthrew the Provisional Government in St Petersburg. The Bolsheviks appointed themselves as leaders of various government ministries and seized control of the countryside, establishing the Cheka to ruthlessly quash dissent. To end the war, the Bolshevik leadership signed the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk with Germany in March 1918. However a brutal civil war erupted between the "Red" (Bolshevik), and "White" (anti-Bolshevik), factions, which was to continue for several years, with the Bolsheviks ultimately victorious. In this way the Revolution paved the way for the USSR. While many notable historical events occurred in Moscow and St Petersburg, there was also a broadly-based movement in cities throughout the state, among national minorities throughout the empire, and in the rural areas, where peasants took over and redistributed land.
