The British lost three wars to Hyder Ali and his son Tipu Sultan, but they eventually succeded in the fourth war and took control of Mysore.

1. Karnataka was a state with a lot of Economical as well as agricultural profit.
2. The Finance management of ruler Haider Ali was a danger for British according to profit point of view.

• 4 Anglo - Mysore wars took place between British and the Nizams of Mysore.

i.) First Anglo - Mysore War ( 1767 - 1769 )

Took place under the guidance of Nizam  Haider Ali in 1767 and continued till 1769.

The victory was written under the name of Nizam haider Ali's army.

ii.) Second Anglo - Mysore war ( 1780 - 1784 )

Took place under the governance of Nizam Haider Ali in the initial years of 1780 and continued till 1784.

British failed again to conquer the thorn of Mysore again.

iii.) Third Anglo - Mysore War ( 1790 - 1792 )

Took place in the year 1790 and continued till 1792 under the leadership if Tipu Sultan.

Tipu Sultan lost the battle against the British East India Company.

iv. ) Fourth Anglo Mysore War ( 1799 )

Tipu Sultan wanted his thorn back, he conspired against British and declared a war against the British East India Company.

Tipu Sultan died during the war and that was the ending of the Mysore's thorn under the Nizams.
