they ate as they are hungry but they can control their diet when their is fast

According to Islam, there are foods- halal and haram. Halal is lawful and and Haram is unlawful.

The meat from animals that die of themselves, blood, the meat of pigs, and any food dedicated to other than God is restricted.

Alcoholic beverages, intoxicants, pork are also prohibited by law. The animal they eat must be slaughtered by mentioning the name of Allah.
