The grievances of the sepoys against the company were:

1. The sepoys were paid much less than the british sepoys.

2. They were treated unfairly by the british officers.

3. All high posts in the army were reserved only for the britishers.

4. The sepoys were not allowed to wear caste and religious marks.

5. An act was passed that required the sepoys to travel overseas, if required. The hindu sepoys resented it as according to a popular beleif, travel across the sea led to the loss of caste.

6. The foreign service allowance or batta which the sepoys got when they were sent to fight outside the country, was discontinued.
