Liberal's wanted a nation which tolerated all religion. They opposed the uncontrolled power of dynastic rulers. They wanted to safeguard the rights of individuals against government. They argued for representatives, elected parliamentary government , subject to laws and officials but they were not 'democrats'.
They did not believe in democracy & UNIVERSAL ADULT FRANCHISE , ie , the right of every citizen to vote . They felt only mens should have the right to vote as they have property. They were against the womens to vote .
