immediate cause of revolt 1857 was the introduction of Enfield Rifle because it was believed that the cartridge of the Enfield Rifle had to be bitten off before use... so the introduction of Enfield Rifle had upset the feeling of Hindus and Muslims which was major cause of Indian population.
