Most successful political club was the club of Jacobins , which got its name from the former convent of St.Jacob in Paris.
The members of Jacobin club belonged mainly to less prosperous sections of society which includes small shopkeepers, pastry cooks, etc.
Leader of the club was Maximilian Robespierre.

Role of Jacobins during the French Revolution:-
The members of the Jacobin club belonged mainly to the less section of the society. They included small shopkeepers , shoemaker etc.
A large group of Jacobins decided to start wearing long striped trousers .They did this to show them as apart from the fashionable sections.
When elections were held, all the men above 21 year of age got right to vote.The newly elected assembly was called the Convection. It abolished the monarchy and declared France a republic.
