1):-Association of Congress with the hindu-mahasabha: After the decline of non-cooperation-khilafat movement, a large section of Muslims felt alienated from the Congress.
2):- Communal clashes:As relations between Hindus and muslims worsened, each community organized religious procession with militant favour, provoking Hindu Muslim communal clashes and riots in various cities. Every riot deepened wedge between the two communities.
3):-Issue of demand of separate electorates: Some Muslim leader demanded a separate electorate for them which was not supported by the Congress leaders.
