what were the limitations of. J.J Thomson model?

the positive charge is whole the red part of a watermelon. and electrons are embedded in it.

But if this happens the atom won't be electrically neutral.....

JJ Thomson's model:-
1. Atoms can be divided into smaller particles and the number of electrons is equal to number of protons.
2. Atoms are made up of positively charged particles with negatively charged particles surrounding in it .

Drawbacks or limitation of his model:-
Thomson explained his model of an atom through the example of a Christmas pudding.
He said that atoms consists of negatively charged particles with positively charged particles embedded in it. But this was found to be wrong when Rutherford had held his gold foil experiment. According to that experiment most of the spaces in an atom is empty. Also Thomson's model is not expected to be stable.So Thomson's model was considered to be insufficient to explain structure of atoms.
