Limitations of Newlands' law of octaves:

1) It was not applicable throughout the table but only up to calcium.

2) The elements discovered after Newlands' octave do not fit in the Newlands table.

3)The location of cobalt and nickel in the group of the elements containing fluorine and chlorine of different properties could not be explained.

4) The property of iron, cobalt and nickel are same, still, nickel was placed far from these two, could also not be explained.
