Limitations of Newlands law of octaves :

1. Law of octaves only applied till Calcium.

2. He said after 56 elements no more elements will be discovered but they were discovered and didn't fit into his table.

3. He put elements with similar properties in different slots and elements with different chemical properties in same slot. For ex. Iron, fe was placed far away from Cobalt, Co which resembled its properties.

4. No slot for inert gases was left in his table.

cheshta9934: No place for noble gasesHe placed two elements in the same place like Co and Ni and they were also placed in the same column as halogen even though their properties were differentHis law was applicable upto Calcium only , elements heavier than Calcium didn't fit in his tableIron having similar properties with Nickel and cobalt was placed far away from themHe thought that there are only 56 elements and didn't left place for other elements
