He was a Bengali Scholar and the one who is a pillar to Renaissance of Bengal.

Ishwar chandra Vidyasagar was an academic,educator,printer,philosopher,reformer and philanthropist.

The efforts of Ishwar Chandra Sagar to modernise and Simplify Bengali prose were significant.

Due to his efforts the British officials passed the law permitting widow remarriage in 1856.

He set up Schools for girls in Calcutta.
