This rebellion is also called Ulagulan, which means Mahavidroha. Violation of the rights of Khuntkuti by the Jagirdars, policies of colonial exploitation and increasing begari were the main causes of this movement. The purpose of this revolt was internal purification, freedom from colonial rulers and the establishment of an independent Munda state.
