Democracy - framers of the Constitution had in mind that the real source of authority is the people of India. After independence, starting from the first general elections,adult franchise was exercised by the people.

Republic- means head of the state is elected by the people.there is no office in the govt. Conferred hereditary.

Single integrated judiciary

Bicameral legislature- we have second chamber legislature in some states like Andrea Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu& Kashmir, Maharashtra and Utter Pradesh.
