Following are the main features of the Constitution of India of 1971 :

  • The government has therefore decided to put an end to the private portfolios and privileges of the rulers of the ancient Indian states. For these purposes, it is necessary to insert, in addition to amending the relevant provisions of the Constitution, a new article  to  expressly nullify the recognition already granted to such governors and to suppress private jurisdictions and all rights, duties and to delete obligations related to private wallets.
  • Articles 291 and 362 of the Constitution are deleted . Insertion of a new Article 363A. After Article 363 of the Constitution, the following Article is inserted, namely:-“363A. Recognition granted to the rulers of the Indian States to cease and abolish private exchanges.
  • The Constitution Act ( Twenty-sixth Amendment) of 1971 has been recognized by the President as the Ruler of a State of India, or any person recognized by the President as the successor of such Ruler at any time prior to such taking office shall no longer be recognized as such Ruler or successor to such Ruler from that date.
