1. It consisted of a platen which inked metal alphabets, this platen was pressed against the surface of the paper to get an impression.
2. It could print 250 letters on one side per hour.
3. Metal type for alphabets could be moved inside the platen so as to compare different words, that's why this printing machine also came to be known as moveable type printing machine.
