The main reasons for the decline of the Harappan Civilisation were-

1. Natural Calamities - As at earlier times people did not have much knowledge about the precautions to take while natural calamities such as floods and     earthquakes, most of their crops, houses and other properties were destroyed. These disasters usually wiped out whole villages causing massive destruction.

2. Overpopulation- Few decades after the establishment of this civilisation, it  began to become overpopulated, i.e, the number of people started increasing drasticlly causing lack of money (decreased economy) and food in an area.

3. Change of courses- The rivers that flowed through the civilisation (especially river Indus), sometimes changed their courses or paths on which they flowed hence causing agricultural issues. People were then not able to irrigate their crops hence causing starvation of the people. They then shifted to other areas.

4. Attacks- Many times foreigners or people from other civilisations attacked this civilisation for its wealth. They mostly survived but they also lost some battles due to which half of their empire was destroyed.
