In social and political movements, Collective Identity is the way how the movement attains commitment and cohesion. It is the tactic to unite the people for a cause. 

During the French revolution, people were united through different ways. They were as described below:

(i)
The revolutionaries replaced the white monarch flag with a tricolored flag that symbolized the unity among the people. It showed that people of all backgrounds are united for justice. 

(ii)Hymns on unity and determination were written that kept the people motivated to work together. Even the French national anthem was written during this period. 


(iii)The revolutionaries only spoke the Parisian French which was spoken only by the natives. They did not speak any international level that showed that they were together in terms of culture and language.
